Chinese takeout favorites like General Tso’s Chicken are surprisingly easy to recreate at home. You can serve this spicy treat as an appetizer or even combine it with fried rice for a quick, satisfying meal.
We’ve done all the research and testing to bring you this dish in four easy steps:

Brief Procedure to Make General tso’s Chicken
In the beginning of making General Tso’s Chicken, marinate the chicken for about 15 minutes in 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp cornstarch, and 1/4 cup soy sauce. Soy sauce acts as a base for the sauce, so you can use less cornstarch.

Make a thickener out of 2 tbsp flour, 3 tbsp cold water, 1/2 tsp baking soda. Mix it together and keep on low heat until bubbling. Now pour it over the chicken. This can make your sauce a bit too salty so add some more soy sauce if you need to.
You are now in the process of making General Tso’s Chicken. After you have done as instructed above, heat about 2-4 tbsp vegetable or peanut oil in a wok or pan, and cook the chicken until golden brown. Put some water in the wok to help with the frying process (which helps prevent burning). I used about 1/4 cup, but you may need more or less, depending on how thick your batter is.
Now put the chicken on top of your rice and you’re all set! The sauce is just enough to make everything stick together so this is perfect for when you’re on a night out or party. The sauce will provide a nice crunchy texture to the chicken and pairs perfectly with rice.
